China moves to fast-track zero-tariff access for Nigerian exports
China has offered to fast-track zero-tariff access for Nigerian goods, a move aimed at strengthening bilateral trade as both countries mark 55 years of diplomatic relations.
Chinese Ambassador Yu Dunhai made the announcement during a meeting with Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, noting that the China-Nigeria strategic partnership has entered a “fast track” phase under China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan.
The early implementation of duty-free access is expected to deepen trust and boost economic benefits for both nations. Tuggar welcomed the gesture, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the One China policy, and expressed interest in aligning development strategies, expanding cooperation in manufacturing, trade, and investment, and strengthening ties further.
