Dangote Group will be world’s top fertiliser producer by 2028 — Aliko Dangote
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group and Africa’s richest man, announced that his company aims to become the world’s largest fertiliser producer by 2028. Speaking at the Imo Economic Summit in Owerri, he revealed plans to increase urea production from 3 million to 12 million tons annually. Dangote emphasized the importance of local investment, urging Africans to invest at home as a way to attract foreign investors. He also highlighted plans to double domestic oil investment to 1.4 million barrels per day and called for more investment in electric power generation.
At the summit, former Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim stressed Africa’s potential, citing its large youth population and 30% share of global mineral reserves, urging the continent to shape its own future. The summit, opened by President Bola Tinubu’s representative, Vice President Kashim Shettima, was also attended by former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
